Y Volunteer?

Our Y volunteers make the difference!  When you decide to invest your time and talents as a volunteer  with the Y, you are filling a special need in our community, as only you can.  Your service may help to shape a child's future, or encourage the spirits of seniors and families alike.  That's why we need you here at the YMCA of North Central Ohio as a volunteer.

At the Y, we offer many volunteer opportunities accommodating individuals and groups alike.  We welcome new friends from all walks of life who are committed to helping others and want to share their skills and talents with our members and other families in our community who are in need of services.

TOGETHERHOOD® PROGRAM

Togetherhood leverages the Y’s charitable mission to unlock people’s potential to improve lives and create a more connected society. Bringing diverse people together to tackle social issues creates more cohesive communities. A culture of volunteerism can also yield social benefits such as lower unemployment, greater income equality, and youth that are more likely to stay in school and avoid risky behaviors.

How it Works

A Y staff adviser guides a committee of Y members who plan and lead volunteer service projects. A comprehensive resource toolkit ensures Togetherhood committees are supported each step of the way, from planning the year of service to running projects to reporting and celebrating their successes.

YMCA of North Central Ohio Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the YMCA of North Central Ohio! Volunteers are vital to the YMCA. Without them, we wouldn't be able to meet the needs of the kids, families, and adults who live in Richland County.

At the YMCA, we know that your time and talent are precious, and we want every minute you spend with us to be worthwhile. That's why we're asking you to take a few minutes to fill out this application. It will help us begin to make the right match between your skills and interests and the opportunities available.

 

You will find questions on this form that are required to do a background check (background checks are FREE of charge). We hope you'll understand that, unfortunately, there are a few people who apply for volunteer jobs at the YMCA for the wrong reasons. The YMCA, however, makes an active effort to prevent abuse. So, even though we may know you well, we reserve the right to conduct background on all volunteers. It's just one of the many ways we help protect children and other vulnerable people the YMCA serves. Thanks for your cooperation in this effort.

I understand this agreement and have read it carefully before signing. I acknowledge and accept that all volunteers are subject to criminal history checks & sexual offender registry checks. I hereby authorize the obtaining of consumer reports or investigative reports, aka background checks, by the YMCA of North Central Ohio at any time after the receipt of this authorization and throughout my volunteer time if applicable. I understand that I am expected to conduct myself in a manner that exhibits the YMCA's core values of honesty, caring, respect & responsibility and will be held responsible for my behavior & conduct.

We will send your information to BIB (Background Investigation Bureau, LLC) to conduct a background check (which is free of cost to you).

Background check emails will be sent within 24 hours of receiving your application during our administrative hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. 

You will receive a verification email from applicantinquiry@bib.com with a username and password to start the background process. (Check your SPAM folder if you did not receive an email.) 

The verification email will only be active for 14 days. 

The background check will only take a few minutes and does require you to use a smartphone camera to verify your identity.
