PARENT-CHILD CLASSES (ages 6-36 months)

Water Discovery (6-18 months)
This program is designed for children ages 6 months-18 months. This is a parent participation class, and a parent must be present in the water with the participant. In this class, the children will be encouraged to discover the water and get comfortable on their stomachs, backs, and learn to submerge with the assistance of an adult.
Water Exploration (18-36 months)
This class is for ages 18 months-36 months and is a parent participation class. The children will learn assisted rolls, blowing bubbles, assisted front and back floats, how to jump into the pool, and how to get out of the pool.
PRE-SCHOOL SWIM LESSONS (ages 3-5)

Water Acclimation 1
This is a beginner-level class. Children will be introduced to submerging fully under the water. They will learn the Jump-push-turn-and grab pattern as well as the swim- float- swim pattern. They will be taught to exit the water independently.
Water Movement 1
This is an intermediate-level class. The child will learn to float on the back and front, tread water, and front and back glide independently. To register for this class, the child should have no hesitation of submerging completely underwater.
Water Stamina 1
At this level, the child will learn to swim on their back 15 yards, tread water for 1 min, and swim float swim for 25 yards without assistance.

Stroke Introduction
The child must be able to complete a 25-yard swim without assistance to enroll in this class. In this class, they will work on endurance, rotary breathing, sitting dive, resting stroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
Stroke Development
Endurance for this level is raised to 50 yards of continuous swimming. The child will be encouraged to achieve a 25-yard front crawl, 25-yard back crawl, 25 yards Breaststroke, and 15 yards butterfly- with simultaneous arm action and kick.
COMPETITIVE SWIM TRAINING-Mansfield Branch
This 5-week program focuses on continuing to build speed, endurance, and stroke technique for all four competitive strokes, as well as encouraging swimming as a healthy lifestyle.
Classes are available for Beginners. Swimmers must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke without stopping for 25 yards.

HOMESCHOOL SWIM-Mansfield Branch
The Homeschool Swim program is a great way to give parents a break during the day and the kids a chance to be active! The participants will have a half-hour swim lesson with our swim instructors.

Do you want your homeschooler to be more physically active and meet new friends? At the YMCA of North Central Ohio, our 5-week Homeschool Gym and Swim program provides an opportunity to do just that! The Homeschool Gym and Swim program is a great way to give parents a break during the day and the kids a chance to be active!

Does Child Care ever close? What about weather?Our sites close based on the YMCA closure schedule and two professional development days each year. WMFD.com and the ProCare app will alert you of all closures.
