Prayer Group-Mansfield Branch
Prayer and Mental Health may be more connected than we realize. Prayer not only helps our mental health but it plays an important part of the Y’s history. The very first YMCA started in 1844 with a group of 11 friends gathering for prayer.
Praying as we exercise or as we go about our day is a great reminder that prayer should prompt us toward action—in our world, our neighborhoods, our families, and our individual lives.
Join the Y as we pray together. All are welcome. The Prayer Group meets the 1st Monday of the month at 10:00 am. (*if the 1st Monday falls on a holiday, the Prayer Group will meet on the following Monday).
Crocheting for Cancer-Mansfield Branch
Join our volunteer Crocheting for Cancer program. Our program meets weekly on Tuesdays from 12 PM to 3 PM to crochet blankets for patients going through treatment at the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center of Mansfield.
Crochet 101-Mansfield Branch
Join us for our new weekly Crochet 101 class to learn the basics of crochet beginning Thursday, February 8th at 5:30 pm.
By the end of class, you will have the confidence to start your own crochet projects. Students will learn foundational crochet stitches, hook sizing as it relates to yarn weight, gauging, and how to read a crochet pattern!
We will also discuss yarn properties, how to finish a crochet piece, and basic stretches to minimize repetitive stress injuries while leaving plenty of time for Q&A to answer any crochet questions or problems.
If you don’t know, crocheting is a yarn craft where you can make things like beanies, blankets, scarves, and animals. It’s somewhat like knitting, except instead of using two needles, you use a hook to make a series of loops and knots.
No skills or experience necessary, all materials will be provided. For ages 8+.
